On a blustery day, Oat and Barley decide to fly a kite. Though Barley worries it’s a bit too windy for kite flying, Oat is enthusiastic and takes the lead. Together they build the kite but when they go to fly it, the wind whips tiny Oat up and into the air. The kite carries Oat all around until landing him right back home. Maybe it was too windy, Oat admits as the friends are reunited. But when it calms, Oat’s got another great idea to try…

I had such a good time illustrating this and I am proud for it to be my first children's picture book. The illustrations were created on Bockingford Hot Pressed 140Ib watercolour paper, using dip pen and black drawing ink, before being painted with watercolour. Details such as the sky I added in digitally during the editing stage, with the exception of the front and back endpapers. It is available online from all good retailers.
